Acupuncture

at Jade Wellness

There are no two concussions alike. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatment involves a thorough assessment not just of your current injury, but of your entire state of health and wellbeing. Treatment using a combination of acupuncture, fire cupping, guasha and/or Chinese herbal medicine is used to help:

1-    Increase blood flow to the brain;

2-    Calm the autonomic nervous system;

3-    Relieve pain from headaches, whiplash and muscle tension;

4-    Relieve nausea, dizziness and vertigo;

5-    Improve cognitive function, memory and focus;

6-    Soothe anxiety and uplift the spirit;

7-    Treat insomnia and somnolence.

The use of acupuncture and herbal medicine for the treatment of concussions and traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) has been shown to be a safe and effective form of treatment, which can be administered immediately following the occurrence of a head injury.

Acupuncture and herbal medicine treat the entire body, not just the symptoms of the injury. These complementary medicines/modalities are balancing forms of treatment that can address multiple symptoms simultaneously. Treatment plans, acupuncture points and herbal formulas are all tailored to a patient’s unique injury and state of being. Acupuncture has been proven to be beneficial in relieving immediate symptoms post-concussion as well as lower the chances of chronic issues further down the road. Herbal medicine is particularly famous for treating TBIs without producing side effects often associated with pharmaceuticals.

Both acupuncture and herbal medicine are gentle and safe therapeutic approaches that can be used along with other forms of therapy in the concussion recovery process.
